There has been good news to report in the world of printed

electronics (PE). The advantages of flexible electronic systems

that can be mass produced at lower cost is drawing

interest from major corporations and entrepreneurs alike, and

holds much promise.

In this edition of Printed Electronics Now, we feature our inaugural

Suppliers Guide. The Suppliers Guide offers our comprehensive

listing of raw materials, equipment and services, and offers

key data and contact information for suppliers, researchers and

organizations to the printed electronics industry. In addition to

our issue, our Suppliers Guide information can also be found on

the web at nitesh_pen.rodpub.com.

There have been interesting developments taking place in the

field of PE, as companies such as Thin Film Electronics, Cambrios,

MC10, Inc. and others reach the market. In “Recent Developments

in Printed Electronics,” which begins on page 8, leaders in the PE

field discuss the latest advances they are making in the field.

There is groundbreaking work being conducted at universities

and research institutes. In my article, “Universities, Research

Institutes are Playing a Key Role in PE,” which begins on page

16, leading researchers offer their insights into the PE marketplace.

Choosing the most suitable conductive materials for PE systems

is a challenge for companies. There are many choices – metallic,

nanoparticles and graphene among them – and each offers

advantages. In “Selecting Conductive Materials for Manufacturing

Inks,” starting on page 12, leading conductive ink suppliers offer

their insights into the materials they have selected.

I hope you enjoy this issue, and always welcome your thoughts

on the field of printed electronics.
